Romantic Guitar 1800
Handmade in Vienna. Made in the mid 1800's. All solid wood, top is spruce, back and sides are made of curly maple. Rosewood fingerboard.
Metal headstock, probably changed at the beginning of 1900. The original was riveted without screws in the gear, so it could hardly be repaired, nor could a single part be replaced, and it had to be changed to a more modern one in 1900.
It has been fully restored. It is normal in such old guitars, for the ribs to come out on the sides, and the sides to burst, going through them. This repair was done many years ago and they are firm and stable, clearly visible to the naked eye. Some small cracks in the lid have also been sealed.
It does not have frets with a crown like the current ones, but small silver bars with a rectangular section, which have been reconditioned and polished. It is perfect to play, with a very comfortable string height. It tunes well on all frets and sounds perfect with no fretting or buzzing.
The fingerboard has also been cleaned and adjusted in everything necessary for proper operation.
It is strung with "Aquila" nylgut Alabaster strings, in the style of vintage gut strings.
The motif that adorns the mouth (sound hole) is very characteristic and identifies the manufacturer. Surely someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to recognize it and identify the builder.
It maintains all its original characteristics. The varnish is also the original, which has been cleaned and reconditioned. It is a really vintage instrument, all original.
It has ebony and mother-of-pearl bridge pins. Scale length: 620mm,
