Hans Hau parlor guitar (1940)

Parlor-sized guitar built in Germany between 1935 and 1940.

Solid spruce top, maple sides, and laminated maple and mahogany back. The fingerboard is ebony, with bronze frets, and has a 65 cm scale length.

This guitar was built by the German luthier Hans Hau, who became famous in 1930 for the invention of the hau-Zither, a 14-string zither with two bass strings.

They were outstanding guitars due to the high quality of materials and construction; ebony was a luxury material in Germany in the 1930s.

The original sunburst shellac is in pretty good condition, with no cracks or major repairs. The guitar is tight and solid.

The instrument is fully functional, the fingerboard has been reconditioned and is comfortable to play.

The neck is very thin and comfortable, it is perfectly straight and stable.

Checked and adjusted, tuning well and comfortable to play! Strung with 011/47, bronze.
